So this my second day of recovery from surgery. It’s Wednesday, it’s about 7:00 p.m., and my surgery was on Monday and today was actually a little worse than yesterday in some sense. I woke this morning and I felt fine and then I went to use the irrigation kit that they gave me where basically you squeeze a saline mixture up one nostril and it comes out the other nostril.
And when I did that, my left nostril started bleeding and I figured it was just a bunch of something released so I put a gauze on and I started filling it, filling with blood gradually. It wasn’t like super fast, but I was a little concerned because if it’s the second day and I was bleeding and I wasn’t bleeding the first day, I didn’t know if that was normal or not.
So we called Dr. Nassif and he said…well, he was in the middle of a surgery so Ana who answered the phone said that it was normal as long as it’s not really, really bleeding and that I should take or I should find Afrin, it’s a nose spray. So I did the two blasts of the nose spray and then put a gauze on and it stopped bleeding and then I went and used some hydrogen peroxide and cleaned it out a bit.
And then I started to feel really tired and anxious for some reason and my nose felt a little more painful than usual so before I let myself get too hot and nervous, I took a half a pill of Xanax to calm myself down because I was getting really anxious and I went to bed. That is much for like three hours from maybe noon to 3:00 and then I woke up and talked to a few of my friends and my friend brought me some ice cream and now I feel fine. Actually, better than I did yesterday. I just feel like I have a big weird thing in the middle of my face but when I was irrigating, I probably just released some blood in there that was stuck.
I’m feeling fine. I walked around the house a little more today. It was a move from the den to my room. My rib feels fine, it just tickles a little bit if I graze it but then I also have some staples in my head that…because they took tissue but that feels fine.
So everything pretty much feels fine. I feel like I’m recovering really quickly and I cannot wait ’til Tuesday until I could get the cast and there’s some silicone-like tubes or splints in my nose. I can’t wait until I can get those out ’cause it just…I know they there for support but they’re a little uncomfortable but I can even tell that I can breathe better already even when they’re in there.
So, the only thing that’s still bugging me is the watery eyes but they said that’s normal and that should last as long as I have the cast on ’cause there is so much pressure there. But yes, I’m doing fine, following my medicine schedule, putting on all the medications on my sutures and stitches and everything that I need to be doing and I feel pretty great.
