Septoplasty Beverly Hills
Many people have a deviated septum, which can occur naturally or after trauma. A deviated septum can cause trouble breathing through one or both sides of the nose. Septoplasty is a procedure designed to straighten the septum. We perform septoplasty as a part of almost every rhinoplasty to help ensure that the patient’s breathing is better after surgery. Septoplasty also allows the surgeon to harvest septal cartilage with which to make the different kinds of grafts that are necessary during rhinoplasty.
On the left is an example of a deviated septum that has been fully exposed during an open septorhinoplasty. You can see how the septum curves off towards the right of the screen. On the right, spreader grafts and PDS plate have been used to straighten the septum.
