Dear Dr. Paul S. Nassif, MD, FACS
It has been 6 months since my surgery. I cannot thank you enough. You have done so much for me. You did my second corrective nasal procedure. I had the following; nasal obstruction secondary to deviated septum, turbinate hypertrophy, internal valve collapse and deviated nasal bones causing inlet obstruction. You also discovered that I had an open roof deformity which you also corrected. You are so wonderful. Your surgery took approximately 4 hours. You had a lot on your plate that day and yet you took your time to repair all the damage. Dr. Paul Nassif, Dr. Pamela Pierson Anesthesiologist and staff, you are all amazing kind and very professional. Your surgical facility was also wonderful, including all of the staff. Dr. Nassif, not only did you put my nose in the middle of my face, but you corrected my breathing. You also gave me a wonderful gift.
Soon after the removal of the Doyle splints from my nostrils, I drove back home. There I found that my 11 year old triplets were freshly bathed and shampooed. I immediately started crying, I could smell the tops of my babies heads. Wow! I could smell! You gave me something every mother loves to do, smell their babies’ heads. You also gave me my sense of smell back. Prior to surgery we had discussed all the risks including that my nose may still not be in mid sagital plane. Soon after surgery you also sent me to see a specialist due to the history of chronic sinus infections. Your continued support and care means a great deal to me, as to your professionalism and kindness, it speaks volumes. Thank you for giving me a very nice nose, for the breaths of life and for my sense of smell. You are the best! May my heavenly father bless you and your family! God has certainly given you a wonderful gift. You are, but an artist. Thank You for sharing your gifted talents with others. On a professional note, next time I have a family member or patient who needs your services, I will definitely send them your way.

On Oct 3, 2009 I had a severe bike accident. I was attempting a 65 mile bike ride. I was in training for a century bike ride for (SJVDHA) San Joaquin Valley Dental Hygienists’ Association; we do an annual bike ride for scholarships for dental hygiene students who attend the Fresno City College Dental Hygiene Program.
I fell off my bike going downhill on a steep curvy road. I fractured my left frontal occipital orbit (eye socket), left zygomatic arch (cheek), broke the maxillary sinus floor, broke my (nose) the nasal bone, and the septum. These had deviated in opposite directions. I fractured 4 maxillary anterior teeth which were intruded into the palate upon impact, I also injured my lower lumbar region (back). I had multiple abrasions and contusions throughout my body (face, arms, legs, hands, feet, and knees) there wasn’t a body part that did not have road tar, or gravel on it. By the grace of God I survived this accident. My helmet also broke in the fall.
On Oct 12, 2009 I was seen by a surgeon in the Fresno area. I had a closed reduction of the nasal fractures, utilizing stabilization. After the surgery, to my surprise, I was still unable to breathe and I had no sense of smell. My (nose), nasal bone and septum were still crooked and in 3 different planes. I was not happy with my facial appearance due to the deformities of the nose but especially the difficulty in breathing. I was concerned when the Attendees were bragging that it took them 15 minutes to do the actual procedure.
My accident occurred on October 3, 2009. The Dermatologist in the Fresno area would not be able to see me until December 15, 2009. Needless to say I canceled this appointment in Fresno because it was too far out and permanent damage to the skin would be inevitable. Soon after my accident I sought out Dr. A. David Rahimi, MD. F.A.A.D. in the Los Angeles area. Dr. David Rahimi came highly recommended by a friend and colleague. Dr. Rahimi took care of all my facial skin imperfections caused by the accident. As soon as I was physically able to walk I called Dr. Rahimi’s office. Their first response was how soon can you get here? I was so impressed and touched by him, he saw me on a Saturday.
After several visits to Dr. Rahimi’s Office, he asked how my rhinoplasty consult had gone? I explained to Dr. Rahimi that I was not happy with the consult that I had received in the Fresno area for rhinoplasty and septoplasty. I went on to explain that the surgeon was more interested in doing breast augmentation and a tummy tuck rather than my nose. The Surgeon failed to keep in mind that the referral was for rhinoplasty and septoplasty from the ENT. I also went on to explain that the Surgeon was concerned about my BMI which is a very valid concern.
The question is, do we have surgery in a true hospital setting if the BMI is too high? Being a health professional I absolutely agree it should be done in a true hospital setting and not in a surgical facility due to the risks. Most health professionals know that. The Surgeon said he could do the breast augmentation and tummy tuck in their surgical facility, but not the rhinoplasty or septoplasty procedures. Those procedures would have to be done in a hospital setting. At no time during this consult did I ever address my breast or my tummy. I kept bringing the surgeon back to my nose. I explained to the surgeon why I was there, and that I was in need of a second surgery consult due to the fact that my nose was still crooked and I was having lots of difficulty breathing through it. I also stated that I had become a mouth breather and the intraoral tissues were red and inflamed; being an R.D.H., H.A.P. I know the health issues that may arise. Needless to say, I had gotten too many red flags from the Fresno Surgeon.
Dr. Rahimi being the professional that he is had heard enough of my consult debacle. He said I have a friend and he is a very good surgeon, I highly recommend that you see Dr. Paul Nassif for a rhinoplasty and septoplasty consult he is very good and one of the best. I like to say to Dr. David Rahimi, thank you for this wonderful referral.
